A graduate of Princeton University (2009) and the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Law (2013) and a Navy Judge Advocate, Dan prosecuted a serious offense in Hampton Roads, protected sailors from predatory landlord practices, and presented on Navy technology to students at Deep Creek Middle School. Dan won the Navy’s 2019 Military Justice Officer of the Year award and had his work favorably cited by a Supreme Court justice. Dan left active duty as a Lieutenant Commander after leading in Expeditionary Combat Skills (pistol, rifle, and medical) training, and is a Navy Reservist. Dan serves Chesapeake as a Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee member in addition to his work as an attorney. Dan and his wife Karen Farrell (who earned her PhD from UVA), are active volunteers at their church with their daughter (a Chesapeake Public Schools student).
Dan wants to run for Chesapeake City Council to adopting a new recycling plan (“mixed waste sorting” or curbside recycling), protect our local employers connected to renewable solar and wind energy projects, and improve infrastructure in all areas of Chesapeake, including at overused railroad crossings where trains block neighborhoods for prolonged periods of time (like at this crossing in one of our South Norfolk communities).
